About Me

I am husband, father and priest in The Episcopal Church. I currently serve as Curate at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cypress, Texas, after graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2016. I focused my studies, and try to focus my current work, on evangelism and new mission practices.

I have helped develop and launch new communities for Episcopal parishes in Dallas and Houston. In 2015, I co-founded the Missional Voices annual gathering, a conversation about innovative ministries and missional communities in The Episcopal Church.

My own story has roots across Christianity. Born and raised in a conservative Lutheran household, I have spent time in Lutheran, evangelical, non-denominational, Eastern Orthodox, and Episcopal congregations.

I spent the first decade of my career handling crisis communications and strategic planning for law firms, businesses, and the people that lead them. I opened and managed the Houston office for a Texas-based PR and marketing agency until leaving for seminary in 2013.

I am married to Elizabeth, an educator and school administrator, and we have two young boys that keep us busy and entertained.

Above all, I am on a journey to follow Jesus. This is where I chronicle what I learn along the way.
